The building
The complex keeps the form of the exposition pavilions, with angled walls and long ramps between the levels. Restaurants of several kinds, a cabaret room and function halls occupy the public floors, and the hotel rooms stand in a wing of their own. Terraces look back across the water toward the city. Around it
Île Notre-Dame is a made island in the Saint Lawrence, reached by bridge or by the metro at Jean-Drapeau. The island holds parkland, a rowing basin and the Biosphère dome, and paths run along the shore. Central Montréal lies a short ride to the north, across the water.

The building
The complex steps down the hillside, so its entrances stand on different levels and long galleries connect them. It holds a theatre used for concerts, a spa, restaurants, shops and an indoor pool, with the hotel rooms in a tower above. Windows on the upper floors face the falls. Around it
The site stands above Fallsview Boulevard, a short walk from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls and the park along the gorge. Observation towers and the Clifton Hill street of attractions lie nearby. A rail station and the border crossing sit to the north-east.

Richmond spreads flat around the site, with dyke paths along the Fraser and the fishing village of Steveston to the south-west. Vancouver International Airport lies a few minutes away by road. Central Vancouver is reached by the rail line that runs past the building.
